Openings installed, exposures closed.
General liability, completed work, tools, vans and workers' comp for window, door, blind and shade installers working in homes and small commercial buildings.

Leaks, falls and a broken pane
Install work looks simple until water gets behind a poorly flashed window and rots the wall, or a heavy door slips on a staircase. Leak and water damage claims can show up months after the job, which is why completed operations coverage matters most here.
Blind and shade installers have lighter exposures but still drill into walls, climb ladders and work around cords. Window and door installation in California generally needs a CSLB license once a job passes the minor work limit. I place general liability, auto, tools and workers' comp sized to the work you do.
- General liabilityDamage and injuries while you work.
- Completed operationsLeaks and failures after the job is done.
- Tools and equipmentSaws, drills and ladders on the van.
- Workers' compLifting, cuts and ladder falls.
What underwriters will ask
Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.
- Work: windows, doors, blinds or a mix.
- Jobs: residential, commercial, new or retrofit.
- License: CSLB number and classification.
- Subcontractors: who you hire and their insurance.
- Revenue and payroll: annual figures.
- History: current policies and any past claims.
Installer insurance, answered
Is a leak after install covered?
Completed operations can respond to damage your finished work causes, subject to the policy. Repairing your own work is usually excluded.
Do I need workers' comp as a solo installer?
Not for yourself if you have no employees, but many general contractors and retailers ask for it.
What do big-box install programs require?
Usually set liability limits, additional insured status and workers' comp. Send me their requirements.
Is new construction harder to insure?
Yes. Tract and condo work carries more construction defect risk in California, so fewer markets write it.
Do you offer window and door installer insurance outside California?
Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. Sam Alishahi is licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and places policies there directly. In Florida and Washington, where Sam's licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime. The shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.
Send your install details. I'll shop it.
Work type, payroll and license number are enough to start.
