Facility professional liability, general liability, property, equipment breakdown, cyber and workers' comp for surgery centers, dialysis clinics, sleep labs and endoscopy centers.

How it works

Sedation, infection and costly equipment

Outpatient centers perform procedures, give sedation or anesthesia, and keep patients for monitoring. Infections, procedure complications and falls during recovery are the claims they face, alongside each physician's own malpractice exposure.

Physicians usually carry individual malpractice, but the facility needs its own professional liability for nurses, techs and the center itself. I place that with general liability, property, equipment breakdown for scopes, imaging and dialysis machines, and cyber for patient records.

  • Facility professional liabilityNurses, techs and the center as an entity.
  • Equipment breakdownScopes, sterilizers, dialysis and imaging machines.
  • Cyber liabilityPatient records and system outages.
  • Workers' compNeedlesticks, lifting and exposure injuries.

Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.

Start the Quote Form

  • Facility: address, licensing and accreditation.

Questions

Surgery center insurance, answered

Doesn't each doctor's malpractice cover the center?

No. A physician's policy covers that physician. The facility needs its own coverage for its staff and the center.

Is facility coverage claims-made?

It usually is. Keep it continuous and know your retroactive date.

Does equipment breakdown cover a dialysis machine?

Sudden mechanical or electrical failure is often covered, subject to the policy terms. Service contracts and wear are separate.

What about a ransomware attack?

Cyber liability can cover breach response and income lost during system downtime, depending on the form.

Do you offer surgery center insurance outside California?

Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. Sam Alishahi is licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and places policies there directly. In Florida and Washington, where Sam's licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime. The shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.
