Care for the skin, cover for the work.

Professional and general liability for estheticians and makeup artists, whether you rent a suite, work in a salon or travel to clients.

How it works

Burns, reactions and the client's own skin

Esthetics claims are personal. A wax burn, a chemical peel that goes too far, an allergic reaction to a product, an eye infection after lash extensions. Each one can mean a claim for medical bills and lost work.

Facials, waxing and makeup for pay in California generally need a Board of Barbering and Cosmetology license, with some exceptions. I place professional and general liability that follows you to a suite, a salon chair or a bride's hotel room.

  • Professional liabilityClaims from treatments: burns, reactions, infections.
  • General liabilityClients hurt in your suite or at their location.
  • Product liabilityReactions to products you sell or apply.
  • Tools and suppliesKits, steamers and devices, on site or in transit.

Questions

Esthetician insurance, answered

Does the salon's policy cover me as a booth renter?

Usually not. Renters are their own business, and many salons require you to carry your own liability.

Are lasers or injectables covered?

Not on a standard esthetician policy. Medical treatments need a med spa policy and medical oversight.

Am I covered at a wedding venue?

A mobile policy can follow you. Venues often ask for a certificate naming them.

Are product reactions covered?

Product liability often responds to reactions from products you apply or sell, subject to the policy terms.

Do you offer esthetician insurance outside California?

Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. Sam Alishahi is licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and places policies there directly. In Florida and Washington, where Sam's licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime. The shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.
