Your staff work in someone else's home
Home care claims come from the care itself: a fall during a transfer, a medication error, an allegation of abuse, or damage in a client's home. That's professional liability and abuse coverage, alongside general liability. Caregivers driving clients or running errands add hired and non-owned auto exposure.
Workers' comp is usually the biggest line, because caregiving is physical work. I package home care coverage with specialty markets that write home care organizations and home health agencies.
- Professional liabilityClaims arising from care provided.
- Abuse and molestationOften required and often excluded unless added.
- Hired and non-owned autoCaregivers driving for work.
- Workers' compRequired for employees; usually the largest cost.
What underwriters will ask
Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.
- License: home care organization or home health license.
- Services: personal care, skilled nursing, hospice.
- Staff: caregivers, nurses, payroll and hours.
- Clients: number of clients and hours of care.
- Driving: whether staff transport clients.
- History: current policies and claims.
Home health care insurance, answered
Does general liability cover a client's fall during care?
Usually not. Injuries from care you provide fall under professional liability, which home care agencies need on the policy.
Do we need abuse and molestation coverage?
Many agencies do, and clients, referral sources and contracts often ask for it. It's excluded from many policies unless added.
Are caregivers driving clients covered?
Their personal auto insurance comes first. Hired and non-owned auto protects the agency when a caregiver drives for work.
What do underwriters rate on?
Services, payroll, client hours, driving exposure and claims history.
Do you offer home health care insurance outside California?
Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. California policies are placed directly; outside California the request is handled together with a partner agency in your state, and the shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.
Tell me about your agency. I'll shop it.
Your license type, services and payroll are enough to start.

Tell me how to reach you. I’ll take it from there.
Takes about 30 seconds. I review every request personally and call you back, usually the same day.
