How it works

Amazon asks once your sales grow

Amazon requires professional sellers to carry commercial liability insurance once sales pass its threshold, with Amazon named as an additional insured. Retailers and wholesale buyers ask for the same. Imported and private-label products draw the closest look.

I place online sellers with carriers that write product liability for e-commerce, including imported goods, and issue the certificates marketplaces and buyers need.

  • Product liabilityInjuries or damage caused by what you sell.
  • General liabilityWith Amazon or retailers as additional insured.
  • InventoryStock at home, in storage or at a warehouse.
  • Cyber liabilityCustomer data and payment information.

What underwriters will ask

Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.

Start the Quote Form

  • Products: what you sell and where it's made.
  • Channels: Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, wholesale, with rough percentages.
  • Sales: annual product sales.
  • Inventory: where it's stored and its value.
  • Requirements: what Amazon or your buyers need on the certificate.
  • History: current policies and any claims or recalls.
Questions

Online seller insurance, answered

Does Amazon require insurance?

Yes, for professional sellers above Amazon's sales threshold: commercial general liability including product liability, with Amazon named as an additional insured. Check Seller Central for the current requirement.

Does it matter where my products are made?

Yes. Imported and private-label products, especially from overseas manufacturers, are underwritten more closely because you may be the one sued.

Is inventory at an Amazon warehouse covered?

Amazon has its own reimbursement rules, so many sellers insure inventory in transit and in storage separately. I'll set it up around where your stock sits.

Do small sellers need insurance?

Even small sellers can be sued over a product. Coverage is often affordable at low sales volumes.

Do you offer online seller insurance outside California?

Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. California policies are placed directly; outside California the request is handled together with a partner agency in your state, and the shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.
