Several exposures under one roof
A convenience store combines retail, food, alcohol sales and often fuel. Each brings its own coverage: property and inventory, customer injuries, liquor liability for off-sale alcohol, and for gas stations, the pumps, canopy and underground storage tanks.
Fuel tanks raise pollution exposure that general liability excludes, and tank owners generally need to show financial responsibility for leaks. I place convenience store and gas station coverage with carriers that specialize in them.
- Property and inventoryBuilding or improvements, coolers, stock and signs.
- General liabilityCustomer injuries on the premises and lot.
- Liquor liabilityClaims tied to alcohol you sell.
- Fuel-tank pollutionLeaks from underground storage tanks, as a separate policy.
What underwriters will ask
Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.
- Operations: fuel, alcohol, food service, car wash, hours.
- Sales: inside sales, alcohol sales and fuel gallons.
- Property: own or lease, building, equipment and inventory values.
- Tanks: number, age and construction of fuel tanks.
- Security: cameras, alarm and cash handling.
- History: current policies and claims.
Convenience store insurance, answered
Does general liability cover a fuel leak?
No. Pollution is excluded from general liability; fuel-tank leaks are covered by a storage tank pollution policy.
Do I need liquor liability for off-sale alcohol?
Many stores that sell beer, wine or spirits carry it, and landlords or franchisors often require it.
Is robbery covered?
Property losses from robbery and burglary can be covered, and some crime coverage can be added.
What do underwriters rate on?
Sales, hours, alcohol and fuel exposure, location, security and claims history.
Do you offer convenience store and gas station insurance outside California?
Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. California policies are placed directly; outside California the request is handled together with a partner agency in your state, and the shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.
Tell me about your store. I'll shop it.
Your hours, sales and whether you sell fuel are enough to start.

Tell me how to reach you. I’ll take it from there.
Takes about 30 seconds. I review every request personally and call you back, usually the same day.
