Work trucks for crews on the move.

Auto liability, physical damage and hired and non-owned auto for the pickups, service-body trucks and trailers that take your crew and tools from job to job.

How it works

Your trucks carry the business

Contractors and service companies run trucks hard: crews in the cab, tools in the bed, a trailer behind. Carriers look at the trade, the radius from where the trucks are parked, each truck's weight and the drivers' records.

I insure the trucks you own at their real value, upfits included, add hired and non-owned auto for employees who drive their own cars on errands, and keep tools and equipment on their own inland marine policy so a theft isn't fought over as an auto claim.

  • Physical damageYour trucks, upfits and trailers.
  • Hired and non-owned autoRentals and employees' own cars.
  • Tools and equipmentWhat rides in the bed and the boxes.

Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.

Start the Quote Form

  • Trucks: year, make, VIN, gross vehicle weight and upfit value.
  • Trailers: what you tow and what's on them.
  • Radius: local, intermediate or long distance.

  • Business: your trade, FEIN and where the trucks are parked.
  • History: current declarations and loss runs.
Questions

Work truck insurance, answered

Does a truck over 26,000 pounds change things?

Yes. Most single trucks over 26,000 pounds need a CDL to drive, and fewer markets write them, so they go to an underwriter.

Are tools in my truck covered by auto insurance?

No. Auto physical damage covers the truck and permanent upfits. Tools need inland marine coverage.

What if an employee drives their own car for work?

Hired and non-owned auto protects the business if they cause a crash on your errand. Their own policy pays first.

Do dump trucks fit here?

Usually not. Dump and mixer trucks are written by a separate set of markets.

Do you offer work truck insurance outside California?

Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. Sam Alishahi is licensed in all 50 states and Washington, DC and places policies there directly. The shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.

Work truck insurance

Send your trucks and drivers. I'll shop it.

A vehicle schedule with upfit values, a driver list and your loss runs are enough to start.
