How it works

The filing keeps you running

Dry van general freight is the most widely written trucking class, but brokers and shippers still check your insurance before every load. Your insurer files proof of liability with FMCSA, and brokers set their own cargo and liability minimums on top.

I match the limits and certificate wording your brokers ask for, add trailer interchange when you pull other carriers' trailers, and price owner-operators and small fleets with markets that take new authorities.

  • Auto liabilityWith the FMCSA filing for interstate freight.
  • Motor truck cargoGeneral freight in your trailer.
  • Physical damageTractors and trailers.
  • Trailer interchangeTrailers you pull under an agreement.

Questions

Dry van trucking insurance, answered

What liability does FMCSA require?

It depends on what you haul. Interstate general freight in trucks over 10,000 pounds has a federal minimum, and hazmat carries higher ones. Most brokers ask for more than the minimum.

What is trailer interchange?

Coverage for damage to a trailer you don't own while it's in your care under an interchange agreement.

Will brokers accept my insurer?

Most brokers accept any insurer with the right filing and rating. I check your broker's list before we bind.

Can I get insured with a new MC number?

Yes. New authorities pay more for the first years, and driver experience matters most.

Do you offer dry van trucking insurance outside California?

Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. Sam Alishahi is licensed in all 50 states and Washington, DC and places policies there directly. The shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see truck insurance by state or insurance requirements by state.
