How it works

Injuries are part of the business

Fitness claims usually come from members hurt on equipment or during a class, and from instruction: a trainer's advice or correction that leads to an injury. That's professional liability, alongside general liability for the facility. Waivers help but don't replace insurance.

Equipment, build-out and lost income after a closure round out the package, plus abuse coverage for programs working with kids. I place sports and wellness coverage through programs that specialize in fitness and athletics.

  • General liabilityMember and guest injuries at your facility.
  • Professional liabilityClaims arising from instruction and training.
  • Property and incomeEquipment, build-out and lost income after a covered loss.
  • Abuse coverageFor youth programs and camps.

Before you call

What underwriters will ask

Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.

Start the Quote Form

  • Business: type of facility or program and years open.
  • Members: members, classes per week and ages served.
  • Staff: employees and independent instructors, and certifications.
  • Facility: square footage, lease, equipment value, pool or sauna.
  • Waivers: member waivers and contracts.
  • History: current policies and claims.
Questions

Gym & fitness insurance, answered

Do waivers mean I don't need insurance?

No. Waivers can help, but they don't stop every claim, and defense costs apply either way.

Do independent trainers need their own coverage?

Usually. Many gyms require independent trainers and instructors to carry their own liability and name the gym.

Are youth sports programs covered?

They can be, and programs with children should include abuse and molestation coverage.

What do underwriters rate on?

Type of facility, members, activities, staff, equipment and claims history.

Do you offer gym and fitness studio insurance outside California?

Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. California policies are placed directly; outside California the request is handled together with a partner agency in your state, and the shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see insurance requirements by state.

Only your name, phone and email are required; every question here is optional. Sending this form doesn’t bind coverage; coverage starts only when I confirm it in writing.
