Cancelled? Get your filing back fast.

When a trucking policy is cancelled, non-renewed or lapses, your FMCSA filing comes off with it. I place new coverage with markets that write cancelled and lapsed carriers.

How it works

The clock starts with the notice

When your insurer cancels, it notifies FMCSA, and your operating authority is revoked if a new filing isn't in place by the effective date. Brokers see the change too, and loads stop.

Send me the cancellation notice as soon as it arrives. I place the account with markets that take cancelled, non-renewed and lapsed carriers, and the new insurer files with FMCSA once the policy is bound.

What underwriters will ask

Having these ready means I can go to market on the first call. The quote form asks for the same things, and anything you don’t know yet can wait.

  • Authority: USDOT and MC numbers and current status.

Questions

Trucking insurance after cancellation, answered

How much notice does FMCSA get?

The insurer must give FMCSA 30 days' notice before cancelling a liability filing. Your authority is revoked if no new filing is in place by then.

Can I get insured with a lapse?

Yes. Specialty markets write lapsed carriers, usually at a higher price at first.

Will a non-payment cancellation follow me?

Insurers will ask about it. One non-payment explained honestly is usually workable.

How do I reinstate a revoked authority?

A new insurer files with FMCSA, and you request reinstatement and pay the fee. I start with the insurance.

Do you offer trucking insurance after cancellation outside California?

Yes. Clients across the country send the same quote form. Sam Alishahi is licensed in all 50 states and Washington, DC and places policies there directly. The shopping across carriers works the same way. Rules, minimums and markets differ by state — see truck insurance by state or insurance requirements by state.
