Snow emergency parking
The City of Minneapolis sets three days of rules when it declares a snow emergency. On Day 1, from 9 p.m., there's no parking on either side of snow emergency routes. On Day 2, from 8 a.m., there's no parking on the even side of non-route streets or on parkways. On Day 3, from 8 a.m., there's no parking on the odd side. Cars left in the way can be ticketed and towed.
The 2011 North Minneapolis tornado
The National Weather Service in Chanhassen says an EF1 tornado with peak winds near 100 mph hit on May 22, 2011, between 2:13 and 2:34 p.m. It touched down in St. Louis Park, entered Minneapolis, crossed the Mississippi at the Camden Bridge and ended in Blaine, a 13.6-mile path up to half a mile wide. One person died in the storm, another died during cleanup, and 48 were injured. Wind damage is normally covered, so check your wind and hail deductible and whether your policy pays to remove fallen trees.
Residual market: Minnesota FAIR Plan
The Minnesota FAIR Plan makes basic property insurance available when you have been canceled, non-renewed or otherwise unable to obtain private-market coverage. An offer from a standard insurer disqualifies you. Apply through any Minnesota-licensed agent; the Plan cannot refuse to take an application through a licensed agent.
Grass and weeds
The City of Minneapolis grass & weeds page states grass and weeds may not exceed 8 inches on private property (Chapter 244 enforcement). Clear before underwriting photos.
