Free-look tiers
S.C. Code §38-63-220 requires a first-page provision that the policyholder may return the policy within:
- Not less than ten days of delivery in the ordinary case
- Not less than twenty days if replacement of insurance is involved
- Not less than thirty-one days if the policy was solicited by a direct response insurer rather than through a licensed agent
The entire premium must be returned immediately. The same section requires a grace period of not less than thirty-one days for any premium after the first, during which the policy continues in full force.
