Short answer: Under Ark. Code §23-88-105, an Arkansas homeowners insurer that won't renew your policy must give you written notice at least 30 days before it expires. If you think a notice broke the rules, contact the Arkansas Insurance Department.
The rule
- Except for nonpayment, the insurer must send either a non-renewal notice or a renewal offer at least 30 days before the term ends.
- A renewal offer must state the new premium and describe any deductible or policy changes.
- Mid-term cancellation generally requires 20 days' notice (Ark. Code §23-66-206).

What to do if you get a notice
- Check the dates. Count from when the notice was mailed or delivered.
- Ask your insurer or agent for the specific reason and whether a repair or update would change its decision.
- Start shopping right away. If regular insurers turn you down, ask about Arkansas's FAIR Plan or other residual market, if one exists.
- If the notice seems late or vague, file a complaint with the Arkansas Insurance Department.
