Who writes pet in Colorado
Top insurer groups from the NAIC market share report; the state's list carries no lines of authority.
Jab Holding Co. Group wrote the most pet in Colorado in 2025, $37.7M and 21.9% of the state's premium; the top five groups hold 78%. Colorado's company list doesn't say which lines each company is licensed for, so the ranking below is the NAIC's top 10 groups; every licensed company is on the Colorado page.

Method and source
Source: the Colorado insurance regulator company list, read 2026-10-18 and the surplus lines list. ADMITTED = Colorado 2025 Insurance Industry Statistical Report (CY2024 data), sheet 'NAIC Companies' (every NAIC-coded company filing with the CO Division of Insurance, 1839 companies) joined to 'NAIC Companies Data' (type) and the 63 line-of-business sheets (lines written in CO + Lic flag). Lic flag per line sheet, consistent per company across sheets (0 conflicts): Y = licensed/admitted, S = surplus lines, N = not licensed, N/A = not applicable. Cross-check: 125/127 Lic=S companies are on the DOI eligible-nonadmitted PDF and 0 Lic=Y companies are. 'admitted' holds Lic=Y (1169) plus 281 companies that file with the CO DOI but wrote no CO premium in CY2024 (no Lic flag; lic='') and are not on the surplus PDF. 'not_admitted' (extra key, 456 rows, same row shape) holds Lic=S/N/N/A companies and no-premium companies that are on the surplus PDF. Row extras: lic (flag as given), group (NAIC group number stripped from the name). 'type' as given: Company Filing Statement Type / Business Type / Business Sub Type Statement Type: P = Property L = Life X = Health Business Type: F = Fraternal G = Other L = Life P = Property R = Risk T = Title X = Health Business Sub Type: HI = Hospital,Medical,Dental or Indemnity HM = Health Maintainance Org LH = Limited Health Service Org N = None PD = Prepaid Dental. Life/health/title companies are included (filter on type: first letter P = property/casualty statement, L = life, X = health; 'P/R/N' = risk retention group, 'T/T/N' = title). 'lines' = CO line-of-business sheets the company reported premium on in CY2024 (not lines of authority; a licensed company with no CO premium has lines=[]). 'since' is not in the source (left ''). Names are NAIC-style abbreviations. 74 companies appear in line sheets but not in the master list (mostly N/N/A). SURPLUS_LINES = DOI 'Colorado Eligible Nonadmitted Insurers Writing Surplus Lines' PDF, effective July 1, 2026, updated 9/16/26; 261 rows (227 NAIC-coded + 34 alien with AA- codes; naic='' and aa_code set for aliens). Colorado has no stamping office. PDF has no domicile column: domicile filled from the statistical report master list where the NAIC code matches (213 of 227). eligible = list effective date, not the insurer's first-eligible date. Prior-year reports: https://doi.colorado.gov/colorado-insurance-industry-statistical-report. "Premium" is direct premium written in the state for the year shown; "share" is that company's part of the state total for the line. A company can be licensed for a line and write none of it, and a surplus lines insurer can write a line without a state license for it.

Send what you need covered and what happened before. I match it to the companies that take it, down to the last-resort plan if it comes to that. I'm licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and your request stays with my agency, not passed to another agent. In Florida and Washington, where my licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime.
