Method and source

Source: the Idaho insurance regulator company list, read 2026-10-18 and the surplus lines list. Admitted = every company licensed in Idaho per the DOI 2024 Annual Report roster (pp. 42-76), all four sections kept with 'type' = Health / Life & Annuity / Property & Casualty / Title so the merge can filter; 'since' = IDAHO LICENSE DATE; 'lines' = LINE(S) OF BUSINESS split on ';' (duplicates removed). Counts by type: {'Health': 23, 'Life & Annuity': 419, 'Property & Casualty': 870, 'Title': 18}. Domicile 'Canada' mapped to CN; one row (80659) has no domicile printed. Companies withdrawn in 2024 (report p.35) are not in the roster. Surplus = SLA of Idaho eligible list: no domicile or eligibility date on the page; alien insurers carry an AA- import code in 'import_code' and naic '' (two AA- rows are labelled Foreign on the page but flagged alien here); DECLO ASSURANCE CORPORATION shows code 'ID 4862' (not a NAIC code). "Premium" is direct premium written in the state for the year shown; "share" is that company's part of the state total for the line. A company can be licensed for a line and write none of it, and a surplus lines insurer can write a line without a state license for it.
