Method and source

Source: the South Carolina insurance regulator company list, read 2026-10-18 and the surplus lines list. SC DOI 'List of Insurance Companies Authorized to Transact Business in South Carolina' as of April 2026; one PDF for every company type, so 'admitted' holds all 2509 rows with the Company Type column kept (filter type in Property & Casualty / Casualty / Property / Surety for P&C admitted). The list has no lines of authority, no domicile and no license date: domicile is blank, mail_state is the mailing-address state. surplus_lines = rows typed 'Eligible Surplus Lines Insurer'; alien=true when the NAIC code is blank or the mailing state is outside the US. NAIC codes blank for RPGs, intermediaries, advisory orgs and alien insurers. "Premium" is direct premium written in the state for the year shown; "share" is that company's part of the state total for the line. A company can be licensed for a line and write none of it, and a surplus lines insurer can write a line without a state license for it.

Need commercial property (fire and allied lines) in South Carolina?

Someone will insure it. I find who.

Send what you need covered and what happened before. I match it to the companies that take it, down to the last-resort plan if it comes to that. I'm licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and your request stays with my agency, not passed to another agent. In Florida and Washington, where my licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime.
