Method and source

Source: the Minnesota insurance regulator company list, read 2026-10-18 and the surplus lines list. Minnesota Dept. of Commerce 'Insurance Supplement' financial summaries. admitted = every licensed Property and Casualty insurer (Domestic + Foreign and Alien), data year 2023, 921 rows (PDF total 921); P&C only (life/health insurers are a separate PDF, not included), so type is 'Property and Casualty' for all rows. No NAIC codes, no lines of authority and no license dates in the source: match by name + domicile. Rows with a status instead of financials (e.g. Liquidation) keep it in 'status'. surplus_lines = 'Eligible Property and Casualty Insurers, Surplus Lines--Foreign' (154) and '--Aliens' (21), data year 2021 (no 2023 edition published); these are the surplus lines insurers that reported Minnesota business, not an official eligibility roster (Commerce keeps none; Minn. Stat. 60A.206). Alien domicile codes are the PDF's own 2-letter country codes (UK, GE, IR, BU, BB, IT ...). The same PDF's accredited reinsurers (13) and registered risk retention groups (90) are excluded from surplus_lines. Source footer: unaudited, may contain inadvertent errors. "Premium" is direct premium written in the state for the year shown; "share" is that company's part of the state total for the line. A company can be licensed for a line and write none of it, and a surplus lines insurer can write a line without a state license for it.

Need homeowners in Minnesota?

Someone will insure it. I find who.

Send what you need covered and what happened before. I match it to the companies that take it, down to the last-resort plan if it comes to that. I'm licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and your request stays with my agency, not passed to another agent. In Florida and Washington, where my licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime.
