Method and source

Source: the West Virginia insurance regulator company list, read 2026-10-18 and the surplus lines list. Surplus lines: NAIC SBS 'Company List Report' PDF (Company Type=Surplus Lines, Status=Active, report date 07-16-2026, issue dates through 06-30-2026) linked from https://www.wvinsurance.gov/company-home as 'List of Surplus Lines Insurers (as of 6/30/2026)'. The PDF has no text layer; pages rendered at 300 dpi, turned upright and OCR'd with macOS Vision (whole page plus one pass per table row), cells located by the PDF's own ruling lines. Report states 245 companies; parsed 245. No per-company eligibility date is printed (eligible=''). Alien insurers mostly have no NAIC code in the report (naic=''). Long names are truncated by the report itself. Columns not carried into WV.json (FEIN, org type, group number, state legacy ID, status) are in wv_surplus_rows.csv. Admitted: West Virginia publishes no bulk roster of licensed P&C insurers (only company-type counts and the one-at-a-time NAIC SBS lookup), so admitted is empty. "Premium" is direct premium written in the state for the year shown; "share" is that company's part of the state total for the line. A company can be licensed for a line and write none of it, and a surplus lines insurer can write a line without a state license for it.

Need surety bonds in West Virginia?

Someone will insure it. I find who.

Send what you need covered and what happened before. I match it to the companies that take it, down to the last-resort plan if it comes to that. I'm licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and your request stays with my agency, not passed to another agent. In Florida and Washington, where my licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime.
