Who writes commercial auto in Alaska
Top insurer groups from the NAIC market share report; the state's list carries no lines of authority.
Western National Mutual Group wrote the most commercial auto in Alaska in 2025, $22.1M and 16.8% of the state's premium; the top five groups hold 64%. Alaska's company list doesn't say which lines each company is licensed for, so the ranking below is the NAIC's top 10 groups; every licensed company is on the Alaska page.

Method and source
Source: the Alaska insurance regulator company list, read 2026-10-18 and the surplus lines list. Admitted = Alaska Division of Insurance Annual Report (FY2025, CY2024 data) 'ADMITTED COMPANIES CY 2024' rosters; all three sections kept with type = section heading: Life 352, Health 53, Property & Casualty 724. Filter type == 'Property & Casualty' for P&C. The report gives no domicile, lines of authority or admission date (fields blank); title insurers, fraternals, HMOs and risk retention groups are not in these rosters. Surplus lines = Bulletin B26-04 white list (2026): foreign (US) surplus lines insurers with NAIC codes plus division-approved alien insurers listed without an NAIC code (alien=true); alien insurers on the NAIC IID Quarterly Listing are eligible in Alaska but not listed here; no eligibility dates given; voluntary withdrawals excluded: 42595 ROCKINGHAM CASUALTY COMPANY, 35912 AMERICAN WESTERN HOME INSURANCE COMPANY. "Premium" is direct premium written in the state for the year shown; "share" is that company's part of the state total for the line. A company can be licensed for a line and write none of it, and a surplus lines insurer can write a line without a state license for it.

Someone will insure it. I find who.
Send what you need covered and what happened before. I match it to the companies that take it, down to the last-resort plan if it comes to that. I'm licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and your request stays with my agency, not passed to another agent. In Florida and Washington, where my licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime.
