Method and source

Source: the Connecticut insurance regulator company list, read 2026-10-18 and the surplus lines list. CT Insurance Department PDF 'List of Licensed Insurance Companies, Approved/Accredited Reinsurers and Surplus Lines Insurers in Connecticut' as of September 30, 2026. One document covers everything: 'admitted' here is every row whose company type is not 'Excess and Surplus Lines', with the type kept as given so the merge can filter (type == 'Property Casualty' for admitted P&C; 'Life plus Accident and Health', 'Title', 'Fraternal Benefit Society', 'Health Care Centers', 'Mortgage Guaranty' are other lines; 'Accredited', 'Reciprocal Jurisdiction', 'Reinsurance', 'Trusts', 'Pools' rows are reinsurers/trusts, not licensed primary insurers). No lines of authority are published, so 'lines' is always [] and 'since' is always ''. Company names are clipped at the PDF column width (roughly 40 characters, e.g. 'Accident Fund Insurance Company of'), so match on NAIC code; alien insurers, pools and reciprocal-jurisdiction reinsurers carry no NAIC code. Surplus lines 'eligible' date is not published. Type counts: Property Casualty=857, Life plus Accident and Health=386, Excess and Surplus Lines=265, Reciprocal Jurisdiction=63, Accredited=44, Fraternal Benefit Society=34, Title=21, Reinsurance (Property-=20, Certified Reinsurer=18, Trusts=14, Mortgage Guaranty=14, Health Care Centers=13, Pools and Associations=10, Pool=8, Reinsurance (Life)=8, Domicile w/ Similar Statutes=3 "Premium" is direct premium written in the state for the year shown; "share" is that company's part of the state total for the line. A company can be licensed for a line and write none of it, and a surplus lines insurer can write a line without a state license for it.

Need surety bonds in Connecticut?

Someone will insure it. I find who.

Send what you need covered and what happened before. I match it to the companies that take it, down to the last-resort plan if it comes to that. I'm licensed in 48 states and Washington, DC and your request stays with my agency, not passed to another agent. In Florida and Washington, where my licenses are still being issued, a partner agency in your state helps in the meantime.
