Method and source
Source: the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner and the Surplus Line Association of Washington company list, read 2026-10-17 and the surplus lines list. Washington's authorized list comes from the OIC's 2025 market report (Appendix D), which leaves out authorized companies with no premium that year. Premiums are in thousands. Lines are the regulator's licensed lines grouped into common names; a license to write a line doesn't mean a company sells it to every kind of customer. "Admitted" means licensed by the state and backed by its guaranty fund; "surplus lines" means eligible to take risks the admitted market declines, without rate or form approval and without guaranty fund protection.
